Piano Theory is now GPL 2007/10/21

  • Previously featured as the most popular widget on Apple.com, the Piano Theory code is now GPL’d! It’s currently being used in schools across the country to help teach people the theory behind piano. Feel free to expand upon the code, and create something even more useful.

If you decide to expand upon this idea, please post your improved version to BandAMP.com forums, so other people can use it as well! :) The dashboard widget has the advantage of actually being able to HEAR the notes you have selected. It would be cool if someone could convert this to work with Internet Explorer and Firefox using flash for the sound processing. Anyways, here’s some examples: Online Version / Dashboard Widget

Furthermore, all code previously released on NoFunc.com has been re-released under GPL, aka “copyleft license”, thus removing many of the restrictions of Creative Commons. Enjoy! :)

    Piano Theory 2007/03/21

  • I’ve been working on this widget a long time, on and off, basically whenever I’ve got a vacation. There are a lot of features in the works, so check back for more updates. I would love to hear what you think about this widget, and any ideas you have for improvements:

  • Sphere Plugin 2007/03/15

  • I’ve prepared a new DHTML plugin, licencened under Creative Commons. It works perfectly on all Macintosh browsers, however, I haven’t had the opportunity to test on Windows… If there are bugs there, it would be great if someone could submit the fix’s… otherwise, you’ll have to wait for me to get around to finding a spare PC to test on.

The new plugin is based on our popular Sphere color chooser. The coolest part is that it’s resizable, you can make this thing as big as you want. Check it out here.

  • Sphere Widget 2007/03/02

  • Do you like ColorJack Sphere? Want it on your desktop? Download the widget for Apple’s Dashboard!

  • ColorJack: Sphere 2007/02/24

  • Ever wonder what a computer programmer does while on vacation? The same thing we do every night. Check out the newest release from ColorJack Labs (developed in Mexico). Sphere allows you to visualize the theory behind color schemes. Try messing around with “Custom” function on the color blindness menu for more advanced options.

  • Dragable/Sortable Tables 2006/12/13

  • Two new functions this week dealing with tables. The 1st one is something that I’ve been trying to get to work for quite some time… the ability to move rows and reorganize columns quickly, stylishly, and with as little code as possible. The other script is for sorting tables. Using both these nomadic functions you can create this music playlist example.

  • New Home 2006/12/10

  • The nomadic functions have been moved off mudcube, and onto the new domain NoFunc.com (as in “Nomadic Function”). Also, check out the code section… they all now include examples! Currently the site is heavily under development, so check back for changes soon. I’ve got a few more releases in mind…

Have a nomadic function you would like to release? We’d love to hear from you.

  • Nomadic Functions 2006/11/20

  • We’ve put together a small archive of 11 nomadic functions. From the DHTML Color Picker, to the AJAX Star Rating system, to the Quicker onLoad script; these functions cover a wide area of topics. All functions listed in the codebase, are licensed under the Creative Commons. Use them for your projects!

  • DHTML Color Picker 2006/11/20

  • I finally got all the ColorJack code into a little widget for your websites! It’s surprisingly small… the entire package weighs in at only 24.5k :) To give you an idea for comparison, it’s nearest competitor is 72.3k. Feel free to use the widget on any of your projects.

Want to learn more, or perhaps you want to download the code.

  • ColorJack: Studio 2006/11/16

  • Studio is finally ready for mass-consumption. This new release greatly increases compatibility. These languages are now supported: Arabic, Chinese, Deutch, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Korean, Portugese, Russian, Spanish, and Japanese. Special thanks to Logos / Google / Babel :)

Other changes include a simplified user interface, better color blindness support, and del.icio.us colorscheme export… speaking of which, check out this great article on “Del.ico.us as a color tool”… It seems like a fairly undiscovered feature, and very handy as well.

... and finally, the new version with some features turned on:

    ?lang=jpn&filter=5&func=17&mode=0&model=0&LoadJack=CC6666,CC3333,2288AA

Lol, alright, well, that was kinda fun :)
